Schweppes brand loses out

The salmonella scandal that hit Cadbury Schweppes last year cost its chocolate brand some £83 million in lost sales, according to a survey listing the top 100 grocery brands in the UK.
The report - The UK's Most Valuable Grocery Brands 2007 - is compiled by brand valuation consultancy Intangible Business.
Brands are scored through a combination of sales data and consumer perceptions of how strong they are. Cadbury's Dairy Milk slipped to third in the league based on value.

Smoothie brand Innocent also scored highly on its debut, entering at number 48 whilst last year's best performer, Actimel fell 38 percent and dropped nine places. Coca-Cola remained the UK's most valuable grocery brand, enjoying sales of £1.2 billion.
