Smirnoff rated as top power brand

Diageo's Smirnoff vodka has been chosen as the world's most powerful alcohol drinks brand.

 

A list of the 100 strongest spirits and wine brands in the world was compiled by Intangible Business, which researched almost 10,000 names in the spirits and wine sectors.

 

The company told OLN: "Power is defined by a brand's ability to generate value for its owner."

 

Through such factors as projected brand growth, volume-based measure of market share, brand loyalty and longevity, Smirnoff secured a 90 per cent total score. Bacardi-Martini's Bacardi rum brand followed in second place, with Diageo's Johnnie Walker in third. Martini, Stolichnaya, Hennessy, Jack Daniel's, Absolut, Ballantines and Baileys comprised the rest of the top 10.

 

A panel of leading experts in the drinks industry who "have been involved with all the major drinks companies and hold positions of responsibility in virtually every market" ranked each selected brand.
