Consumer Trends Impacting the Licensing Industry
Intangible Business was invited to host a seminar at the Licensing International Expo in New York, moderated by Elise Neils, joint managing director of Intangible Business LLC
The session on consumer trends considered recent changes in arenas such as technology, fashion, design, retailing and product in order to point the way forward to what we can expect in the next few years. The panel reviewed trends that are impacting the way we all live and shop including social networking (blogging, My Space, Facebook, You Tube...), consumer desire for "green" and organic products, and branding demands (revival brands, destination brands, core value brands...). The panel examined how to best respond to those trends going forward. US and European leaders from a range of fields shared their insights, observations, and predictions.
The panel was chaired by Elise Neils, managing director of Intangible Business, and consisted of the following presentations:
1. The Consumer Desire for 'Green' and Organic Products
William Grobel from Intangible Business' London office discussed the growing trend for ethical, green, organic and charitable activity, with reference to brands including Whole Foods, Paul Newman, The British Heart Foundation and Tesco.
2. Sports Marketing to Women
Brad Sarna from Intangible Business LLC, discusses the growing trend of marketing to women in the US in the baseball, NBA, National Football League, NHL and NASCAR.
3. Branding in a Socially Networked World
Stephen Neils from Intangible Business LLC and managing director of AbsouteBusiness, discusses the phenomenon of social networks and internet market, with reference to brands such as MySpace, YouTube and Facebook.
